Wave simulation

(1) Simple washing of waves
By setting the two pumping powers maximum and
minimum as well as the pulse time, high and low water
speeds as in natural washing of waves can be
produced with a water column of less than a metre
(39.3 in.).
(2) Sequential pump circuit
The pumps (up to four) are started up one after each
other, which produces a swelling current. The time
to the next pulse can be set.
(3) Chance flow
Chance flow is generated by wave simulation and
sequential pump circuit operated simultaneously.In
some special reef zones (surf), this combination can
produce interesting wave movement.
(4) Simulation of tidal currents
The pump channels 1 and 2 are switched on or off
alternately. The water flows through the reef from
both sides at an adjustable switching time of up to
12 hours.
(5) Operation in night mode
The photo-electric cells can be used to lower the
pumping power during the night. Like in a reef, small
animals and plankton can rise in the aquarium to
take the habitat of diurnal animals.
(6) Foodtimer
By the push of a button, the pump can be stopped
during feeding. After eight to ten minutes, the system
is started again automatically.
(7) Moonlight
Moon simulation in reef aquariums with white LED
light, adjustable to a moon phase of 29 days.

„interval 1“ / „interval 2“
The interval function is used for alternating flow
conditions (high and low tide) in the aquarium and
requires at least two pumps. The adjustment knob
(3) is used to set the interval time from minimum to
maximum within a range of about 1 second to 12
hours, adjustable by button (4).
„sequential“
This function is sensible as from three pumps. The
pumps connected are switched on one after each
other in adjustable intervals (3) and are switched off
again subsequently, with the exception of the first
pump. Then, the cycle starts again.
„power“ / „channel 1“ / „channel 2“
The adjustment knobs (1a) and (1b) control the two
power levels on „channel 1“, which are the outputs
(1.1) and (1.2). The adjustment knobs (2a) and (2b)
control „Channel 2“ with the outputs (2.1) and (2.2).
The pumping powers are displayed by the „power“
LED.

„pulse“ - wave simulation
The pulse operation produces biologically active flow
pulses (= waves). Within one channel, the pumps
operate synchronously corresponding to the power
set at the adjustment knobs (1a) to (2b). The larger
the difference between the powers of the pumps is,
the larger the wave pattern is. The pumps shuttle
their power in the cycle of the pulse time set.
When „pulse“ is set, use button (6) to start the wave
simulation at the four sockets, which means that up
to four pumps can be connected. By using Y adapters
7092.34 an extension up to eight pumps is possible.
In all other positions of the button (6) the pulse
operation is active as well, but is restricted by the
device functions of the interval operation („interval
1“ and „interval 2“) and the sequential pump circuit
(„sequential“)
Switching off „pulse“ operation
The pulse operation can be switched off at one or at
both channels by turning the adjustment knobs
„channel 1“ and „channel 2“. If, for example, the pulse
operation is to be discontinued at „channel 1“, both
adjustment knobs (1a) and (1b) have to be set
identically. For example both adjustment knobs could
be set to 60 per cent. The LED display „power“ will
no longer vary at the cycle set. The pumps on this
channel have a constant power and the pulse
operation is de-activated. The action can also be
carried out on „channel 2“
„pulse“ - example
Multicontroller 7095 and two Turbelle® electronic /
stream.
Set button (6) in such a way that the „pulse“ LED
lights up.
Set adjustment knob (1a) to 30 % power.
Set adjustment knob (1b) to 100 % power.
Set adjustment knob (2a) to 40 % power.
Set adjustment knob (2b) to 80 % power.
Set the „pulse“ adjustment knob to a pulse time of
1.5 seconds.
Connect one pump each to the socket of „channel
1“ (1.1) or (1.2) and to the socket of „channel 2“ (2.1)
or (2.2).
Result:
The pump on „channel 1“ varies its power between
30 % and 100 %.
The pump on „channel 2“ varies its power between
40 % and 80 %.
The pulse cycle is defined at 1.5 seconds by means
of the adjustment knob (5).

„interval 1“ - simulation of low and high tide
Use button (6) to switch on „interval 1“ operation.
Only one pump channel is operational at a time,
which means that all pumps connected to „channel
1“ and all pumps of „channel 2“ is switched on and
off alternately.
This interval operation permits two reciprocating ring
currents in the aquarium. Water circulates around
the reef in regular intervals, flushing away sediment
and flowing through invertebrates from all sides.
Interval current also prevents the collection of
sediment on the rear side of decoration. We
recommend that both channels are set to the same
pumping power, if and when possible. Use button
(6) to select the „interval 1“ position, and button (4)
will indicate the scale for an adjustment time at
adjustment knob (3). The time may vary from one
second to about 12 hours.
The interval operation can be combined with pulse
operation. A pulse time (5) can be defined and the
various powers can be set at the adjustment knobs
(1a), (1b) / (2a), (2b). For more detailed information,
please refer to the chapter titled „pulse“ - wave
simulation“.
„interval 1“ - example
Multicontroller 7095 and at least two Turbelle®
electronic / stream.
Set the button (6) in such a way that the „interval 1“
LED lights up.
Connect at least one pump to the socket of „channel
1“ (1.1) or (1.2), and one to the socket of „channel 2“
(2.1) or (2.2).
In the aquarium, the pumps should be located on
opposite sides.
Use button (4) to set the interval time from „1 to 60
seconds“.
Set the adjustment knob (3) to middle position =
approx. 30 seconds
Result:
The pump on channel 1 operates for 30 seconds
and is switched off then.
The pump on channel 2 start operating for 30
seconds, and so on.
A green LED lights up at each socket when the
respective channel is operating.
After checking the flow conditions in the aquarium,
the interval times can be set to natural values, such
as a tidal action of six hours. The power of the pumps
can be set as rendered in the chapter titled „Pulse -
wave simulation

„interval 2“ - simulation of high and low tide
Use button (6) to switch over to „interval 2“ operation,
which is a variant of „interval 1“. The circulation
pumps are not switched off and on alternately. An
adjustable power and the minimum power (30 %) of
the pumps are varied here.
The „interval 2“ operation permits alternating ring
currents (high and low tide) in the aquarium, which
is of special significance when the circulation pumps
have been mounted in their capacity as filter pumps
as well (e.g. Comline filter with Turbelle® electronic).
Button (6) is used to set the „interval 2“ position; and
button (4) sets the time range for the operating time
to be set with the adjustment knob (3). The time can
be set between 1 second and about 12 hours -
„channel 1“ and „channel 2“ then change operation
at the time set. One channel operates at the power
set and the other always remains at a constant
minimum power of 30 %.
„interval 2“ - example
Multicontroller 7095 and at least two Turbelle®
electronic / stream. One Turbelle® electronic may be
fitted in a filter.
Set button (6) in such a way that the „interval 2“ LED
lights up.
Connect at least one pump to the socket of „channel
1“ (1.1) or (1.2), and one to the socket of „channel 2“
(2.1) or (2.2).
In the aquarium, the pumps should be located on
opposite sides.
Use button (4) to set the interval time from „1 to 60
seconds“.
Set the adjustment knob (3) to middle position =
approx. 30 seconds.
Set the adjustment knob (5) to „1.5 seconds“.
Set the adjustment knobs (1a), (2a) to 30 % and (1b),
(2b) to 100 %
Result:
The pump on „channel 1“ operates for 30 seconds
in pulse operation from 30 % to 100 %, and then
remains at 30 %.
The pump on „channel 2“ operates for 30 seconds
in pulse operation from 30 % to 100 %, and so on.
The four green LEDs on the sockets are permanently
lit because all pumps are operating with a power of
at least 30 %.
After checking the flow conditions in the aquarium,
the interval times can be set to natural values, such
as a tidal action of six hours. The power of the pumps
can be set as rendered in the chapter titled „Pulse -
wave simulation“.
„sequential“ - sequential pump circuit
The sequential pump circuit is recommended for long
tanks in particular. The Turbelle® pumps should be
arranged in one line, thus producing a strong wave
front with swelling water movement. The sequential
pump circuit produces a wave-like current; tidal
current cannot be combined. It would be sensible to
place the ring circulation produced in direction of the
filter system so that any suspended dirt particles can
be removed by the mechanical filter better.
At least two Turbelle® pumps are required. The
system is sensible only, however, with three pumps
because otherwise no clear pump sequence is
recognised. Use button (6) to select the „sequential“
function. Button (4) indicates the time range for the
adjustment time on the adjustment knob (3). The
pumping power at the adjustment knob (1a) and
(1b) has to be set identical. Proceed the same way
with adjustment knobs (2a) and (2b), thus ensuring
that wave simulation (pulse operation) has been
switched off
The pumps connected are switched on one after each
other at an adjustable time (3), and subsequently they
are switched off again, with the exception of the first
pump. Subsequently the cycle starts again. The green
LEDs are lit when the pumps connected to the
sockets are switched on.
„sequential“ - example
Multicontroller 7095 and four Turbelle® electronic /
stream pumps.
Set the button (6) in such a way that the „sequential“
LED lights up.
Connect one pump each to the sockets of „channel
1“ and „channel 2“.
The pumps should be arranged in one line in the
aquarium.
Use button (4) to set the interval time from „1 to 60
seconds“.
Set the adjustment knob (3) to „Min.“ (= approx. 1
second

Result:
Pump 1 on socket (1.1) operates without interruption.
Pump 2 on socket (1.2) starts after one second.
Pump 3 on socket (2.1) starts after another second.
Pump 4 on socket (2.2) starts after yet another
second.
After another second, all pumps stop, with the
exception of pump 1, and the cycle starts again.
Depending on the aquarium and the
requirements, the switching time can be extended
on the rotary knob (3) and on button (4). However,
the sequential pump circuit is intended for short
interval periods only

„sequential“ - chance flow
The chance flow is another option of Multicontroller
7095, which is produced, if the Multicontroller is
operated in conjunction with the sequential pump
circuit and the pulse operation switched on.
In a reef aquarium, the chance flow permits the
simulation of special reef zones (surf, coastal zones).
The regular operation of chance flow in an aquarium
may produce interesting effects, in particular for a
de-sedimentation of the stoney structures or its
deeper zones. The operation of chance flow for a
few hours a weeks is sufficient.
At least two Turbelle® pumps are required. Use button
(6) to select the „sequential“ mode. Button (4) renders
the scale for an adjustment time to be set with
adjustment button (3). The pumping powers (1a) and
(1b) as well as (2a) and (2b) are set to different
values, thus setting pulse operation.
The pumps connected are switched on one after
each other at an adjustable time (3), and are switched
off again with the exception of the first pump. Then
the cycle starts from the beginning. The green LED
is lit when the pump connected to the socket is
switched on
„sequential“ - chance flow - example
Multicontroller 7095 and four Turbelle® electronic /
stream.
Set the button (6) in such a way that the „sequential“
LED lights up.
Connect one pump each to the sockets of channel 1
and channel 2.
In the aquarium, the pumps should be located on
opposite sides.
Use button (4) to set the interval time from „1 to 60
seconds“.
Set the adjustment knob (3) to „Minimum“ ( = approx.
1 seconds).
Set the adjustment knob (5) from 1.5 to 6 seconds.
Set the adjustment knobs (1a), (2a) to 30 % and
(1b), (2b) to 100 %.
Result:
All pumps connected operate in chance flow cycle.
The rhythm can be varied with the adjustment knobs
(5) and (3).
„night mode“
Use button (7) to switch on the „night mode“. By using
the photo-electric cell in the illuminated area of the
aquarium lamp, the pumps connected are interrupted
in pulse operation when the light is switched off. The
pumps will then continue to operate with the power
set at the adjustment knobs (1a) and (2a). In the
morning, when the light is switched on again, the
selected pulse operation of the pumps starts to run.
„night mode“ can be set in every flow programme of
the Multicontroller.
Setting up „night mode“
Use button (7) to switch on „night mode“.
Hold the photo-electric cell in the illuminated area of
the aquarium lamp in such a way that the pumps
start pulse operation. Keep a minimum distance of
30 cm (11.8 in.) in case of mercury discharge lamps
as otherwise light and heat damage is unavoidable !
Use a clamp holder to attach the photo-electric cell
permanently to the test location - see chapter titled
„Mounting the photo-electric cell“.
By pressing button (7) again, the „night mode“ can
be switched off. The green LED will go off.

„moon light“ - simulation of moon phases
The moon phase depends on the constellation of
sun and moon. On average new moon positions
occur every 29.53 days. Multicontroller 7095 offers
a simplified moon phase of 29 days. A special LED
has been fitted to the photo-electric cell which is
placed over the water surface. The moon phase has
been programmed to simulate the moon cycle from
full moon to new moon. This cycle can also be
harmonised to the natural moon phase by setting
back the Multicontroller at full moon. This action can
be carried out by means of a reset, i.e. by switching
the pumps connected off and on again briefly or by
briefly removing the connecting cable of the
Multicontroller to the drivers of the pump. The „moon
light“ LED will be lit only, if the photo-electric cell
picks up no or very little light. For this reason, it is
adapted to the light cycle of the aquarium
Adjusting the moon phase simulation
Use button (7) to switch on the „moon light“.
Darken photo-electric cell for try-out or switch off the
aquarium lamps.
The „moon light“ LED will be lit at 100 % power.
In order to harmonise the moon phase of the
Multicontroller and the natural moon phase, the
Multicontroller has to be reset at full moon.
By pressing the button (7) again, the moon phase
simulation can be switched off. The appertaining
green LED is no longer lit. By switching off the „moon
light“ function by pressing button (7), the internal
moon cycle in the Multicontroller is not changed.
Caution ! During the night, neither the aquarium light
nor another strong light source should be switched
on as otherwise the cycle of the moon phase set is
moved a day forward.
